AEG provided professional construction management services for the Illinois Tollway test gantry installation and Plaza improvements project which consisted of four locations. The scope of work included construction management of the following:
- Façade replacement and miscellaneous architectural repair work at Illinois Tollway Plaza 47A.
- Installation of a first of its kind climate controlled, ventilated fiberglass enclosure to protect the existing ORT equipment from the elements while providing a controlled working environment for Tollway maintenance crews at Irving Park Toll Plaza (Plaza 33).
- Repair tunnel leakage in Plaza 33 by installing new water proofing along the foundation walls, repairing a section of collapsed drain tile under Plaza ORT lane, and installing trench drains to alleviate water seepage inside the tunnel.
- Construction of an ORT Test Site which will be used by the Tollway to test new ORT equipment to be utilized on other Tollway projects, located at Mile Post 42 on Northbound I-294, by removing and modifying an overhead gantry system previously located at Mile Post 13.5. Work included demolition of existing double face barrier walls, installation of new concrete caissons, grade beams, and barrier walls. Existing gantry was modified to allow for ORT equipment installation. Existing I-Pass Reader Enclosure, Lane Control Enclosure, Power Enclosure and Additional Communication Enclosure cabinets were modified and installed at the site. Electricity was brought to the site from the ComEd installed 480/240V transformer on West Touhy Avenue. Fiber optic was routed to Plaza 29 where SFP patch panel was installed to integrate the ORT equipment into Tollway network.
