AEG staff provided professional design services for the Phase I study for the replacement of the twelve-span composite steel structure carrying the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Halsted Streets over the Union Pacific Railroad and parking and staging areas for the Chicago Tribune and Prairie Concrete. The Phase I Engineering and Environmental Studies consisted of preparing a Group II Categorical Exclusion Project Development Report, Intersection Design Study and extensive utility coordination and public informational meeting. It also included inspection of the viaduct, preparation of the Bridge Condition Report, preliminary bridge design and hydraulic report and a drainage memorandum. The estimated construction cost was $26.9 million.
