Design

AEG provided Design Engineering Services for Phase II Engineering Study of the flood control / storm water management project in the vicinity of 131st Street and Cypress Lane in Palos Heights, Illinois. AEG  prepared the Phase II design study for the MWRD Contract 14-259-5C. AEG’s key responsibilities included the development of alternatives to identify potential solutions and recommended improvements to alleviate the identified flooding in the Cypress Lane study area.

AEG reviewed existing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling data for Navajo Creek, the receiving waters from the Cypress Lane flooding area.  Existing HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS models, available from MWRD’s previous watershed planning efforts, were utilized as foundation models for evaluating downstream impacts resulting from upstream recommendations. The existing HEC models for evaluating downstream impacts were utilized for consistency with previous modeling results and policies implemented for Navajo Creek.
